Late January in 2015 marked an important celebration for World War II veterans. Although the bleakest parts of this world-changing war took place more than seventy years ago, those who fought for the Allied forces are still given a great deal of respect. Because of this, certain surviving soldiers were awarded a great honor in a local ceremony.
New Orleans Celebration
Four WW2 veterans were celebrated for their service in New Orleans, obtaining the Legion of Honor from the Consul General of France. The event occurred on the Centenary College campus. All four of the veterans who were given the Legion of Honor were Americans from Louisiana. The three living soldiers given the award were Ethan Allen Gillispie Jr., Rollin H. Cochran, and William C. Wilkins Jr.
