The Superior Court of Mariposa County has general jurisdiction over all civil and criminal matters not assigned exclusively to another court. The Superior Court conducts both jury and non-jury trials, hears motions, resolves conflicts in law and fact, and interprets and applies the law.

The Superior Court also has exclusive original jurisdiction over probate matters and juvenile matters. The Probate Division handles all matters relating to the administration of estates, trusts, conservatorships, guardianships, and adoption proceedings. The Juvenile Division has exclusive jurisdiction over all proceedings involving minors who are alleged to be wards of the court, including proceedings involving abuse, neglect, and dependent children.
