The Sierra Division Courthouse is one of the oldest courthouses in California. It was built in 1898, just two years after the state was admitted to the union. The courthouse is located in Bass Lake, a small town in the Sierra Nevada foothills. The town is named for its location on Bass Lake, a popular fishing and recreation spot.
The Sierra Division Courthouse is on the National Register of Historic Places. It is one of only four courthouses in California that are on the National Register. The other three are the Superior Court of California in San Francisco, the Supreme Court of California in Sacramento, and the appellate court in Los Angeles.
