Bakersfield Jail

Bakersfield Jail, located at 1415 Truxtun Ave in downtown Bakersfield, is the largest detention facility in Kern County. The Jail has an operational capacity of 1,054 inmates and employs over 260 personnel.

The Bakersfield Jail offers a variety of programs and services to its inmates, including educational programs, religious services, and substance abuse treatment. In addition, the Jail also provides work opportunities for inmates through its work release and labor programs.

The Bakersfield Jail is accredited by the American Correctional Association and the National Institute of Corrections.

If you are interested in visiting an inmate at the Bakersfield Jail, you must first obtain a visitor’s pass from the Kern County Sheriff’s Office. Visitors must present a valid photo ID and be on the inmate’s approved visitor list.
