Merced Courthouse (Main Location)
The Merced Court is located on N Street between M and R Street near Applegate Park. The hours of operation for general admission begin Monday through Friday at 7:45 a.m. Listed below are times for division admission:
•7:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. – Traffic
•7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Administration
•7:45 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. – Criminal
•8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. – Small Claims Advisor, Monday and Wednesday
•8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. – Self Help Center/Family Law Facilitator
•8:00 a.m. to 3:00 pm. – Civil/Probate/Juvenile Dependency, Court Investigators, Family Law, Juvenile, and Los Banos.
•8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. – Finance, Human Resources, Judicial Support, and Jury Services.
•9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. – Small Claims Advisor – Los Banos
Services and Procedures
The Administration, Finance, and Human Resources divisions handles matters pertaining only to the operations of the court. You must contact the division that handles your case for assistance.
The Civil division manages cases related to small claims matters, civil , probate, unlawful detainers regarding evictions, senior abuse, conservatorship, guardianship, name changes, adoptions, and emancipation. If you have any questions, you may call (209)725-4111.
The Criminal division manages cases regarding felonies, misdemeanors, and infractions. If you need to contact this division, you can call (209) 725-4113.
The Family Law division accepts cases pertaining to child custody. When submitting form fees, you must submit cash or money orders. If you have any questions, you must call (209)725-4117.
The Juvenile division handles delinquency and dependency cases. Due to the confidentiality status of juvenile cases, information is not released over the phone. However, if you have any other questions or need instructions about how to obtain case information you may call (209) 725-4119. For juvenile probation related cases you may call (209) 385-7495.
The Jury Services division assist jurors with case assignments and schedules. If you have any questions related to your summons you may call (209) 725-4121. You may also check your jury status online by visiting here.
The Self Help Center is available whenever you want to visit with an attorney regarding landlord/tenant issues, domestic violence, family law, name change, retaining guardianship of a minor, civil harassment cases or small claims. Due to the limited amount of visitors that are accepted during the day, you must arrive early preferably at 7:45 a.m. to reserve an appointment with the attorney. The Traffic division manages adult and teenage traffic cases. Walk-ins are accepted Monday through Friday accept Wednesdays. This division also handles appeals regarding misdemeanors and infractions when the appropriate forms are completed and submitted. Traffic school is also available for individuals who have citations which require traffic training.
